The Master’s Program in Health Promotion, Postgraduate Program at Diponegoro University, started admitting new students in September 2001, as per the Decision of the Directorate General of Higher Education No. 83/DIKTI/Kep/2001. In its early establishment, the Master’s Program in Health Promotion was one of the concentrations within the Master’s Program in Public Health with the Rector of Diponegoro University’s Decision No. 407/SK/J.07/1999. The Master’s Program in Health Promotion was officially designated as a separate program based on the Decision of the Directorate General of Higher Education No. 83/DIKTI/Kep/2001.
The Master’s Program in Health Promotion is one of the five Master’s Programs established in the field of Public Health. In line with Diponegoro University’s vision, where the direction of the Master’s Program in Health Promotion aims to become a leading institution, a pioneer in the development and dissemination of technology and services in the field of health promotion, since its opening in September 2001, it has consistently conducted periodic evaluations and observed the development of health promotion at regional, national, and global levels.
In its efforts to fulfill its mission, the Master’s Program in Health Promotion has increased the number of permanent and non-permanent teaching staff to support the evolving concentration. Additionally, the program has gradually evaluated human resources, curriculum, evaluation systems, library and learning resources, as well as the outcomes of its graduates. The learning process in the Master’s Program in Health Promotion is conducted in a student-centered manner, where students are at the center of their own learning and are encouraged to actively gather information from various sources such as scientific journals, the internet, mass media, and scientific activities both domestically and internationally. Field visits to directly observe public health issues have been carried out since the early semesters. These field visits are not limited to applying health promotion techniques in domestic institutions but also include visits to various foreign institutions related to health promotion. Academic activities are conducted in a collaborative and interactive atmosphere.
Students in the Master’s Program in Health Promotion generally come from health-related disciplines such as medicine, public health, nursing, and midwifery. However, some students come from non-health disciplines such as education, economics, social sciences, psychology, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, ship engineering, and geology. Students in this program come from nearly all provinces in Indonesia, including Central Java, West Java, East Java, Yogyakarta, Lampung, South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Bangka Belitung, Jambi, North Sumatra, Aceh, West Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Papua, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku, and Jakarta. The number of graduates as of December 2008 is 45 people. The average study duration from the fifth batch in 2005 to the eighth batch in 2008 was 20 months with an average GPA of 3.25. The graduates’ average indicates a trend towards quicker completion with higher GPAs.
The Master’s Program in Health Promotion at Diponegoro University’s Faculty of Public Health has obtained an A accreditation status (Excellent) from LAM-PTKes through Decision No. 0148/LAM-PTKes/Akr/Mag/III/2019, valid until 2024.
