Since the COVID-19 Pandemic happened in Indonesia, schools must be conducted online through various platforms. However, in November 2020 the Indonesian government made offline school regulations with several conditions. One of them is, schools that have been allowed to go offline are SMA/SMK/equivalent. Parental approval for children is also one of the requirements for the offline school. Considering the high number of cases of transmission of COVID-19 in children, what do parents consider in their children’s school decisions? How are the parents’ knowledge and perception of COVID-19?
The research team from the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Diponegoro, namely Novia Handayani, SKM, MA, M.Kes, Dr. drs. Syamsulhuda B. Musthofa, M.Kes, and Aditya Kusumawati, SKM, M.Kes conducted research on 1,520 parents spread across 14 cities/districts in Central Java Province in July 2021.
The results of this study indicate that most parents’ knowledge of COVID-19 and prevention of COVID-19 is good (73.3%). In addition, more than half of parents have a good perception of prevention against COVID-19 (59.4%).
The results of this research are expected to be an insight for parents to continue to seek appropriate and correct information about COVID-19. This means that parents can make the right decisions for their children based on good knowledge and perceptions.
